Trade Vietnamese firm joins Australian Footwear Fair Expo

The Binh Dinh Footwear Joint Stock Company took part in the 7th Australian Footwear Exhibition, which opened in Sydney February 13. This is the first time the company has participated in the exhibition, with an aim of breaking into the Australian footwear market, said the company's deputy director, Tran Van Khiem.

According to Khiem, on the opening day of the fair, huge numbers of foreign retailers and customers visited the company's booth and were full of praise for the quality and design of its products.

Australia is a market that holds great potential for even greater success for Vietnam's footwear manufacturers, Commercial Counselor in Australia Nguyen Huu Chi said, adding that Vietnamese businesses should strengthen their trade promotion through participation in international fairs and undertaking a thorough study of the Australian market.

Vietnam's footwear export turnover to Australia currently stands at $30 million per year, he said.

The head of the fair's organizing board, Mari Kinsela, said that this year's event showcased a wide range of products from 52 businesses from Australia and other countries, including the U.K., Italy, China, Malaysia and Colombia.

In January, Vietnam was estimated to export $350 million worth of footwear products, down 26% on-year.
